Dr Matthew Aldrich is a lecturer in Economics at the University of East Anglia and is also the Director of Employability for the School. He works closely with the Careers Centre to design the employability programme for the School and organises events to aid students in their career development, and offers guidance and advice. He is also responsible for generating and managing School internships.
Matthew is an applied labour economist. He teaches microeconomics, labour economics and the economics of the public sector. His thesis examined the relationship between human capital, skills and the labour market, and the value of education in the UK. He graduated with a PhD from UEA in 2011.
Matthew is currently working on a collaborative research project investigating the role of fathers within the family and in the labour market, and considers how institutional factors affect this relationship. This will include a comprehensive profiling of fathers in the UK in 21st century Britain. This work involves researchers at UEA and at NatCen Social Research.
