That title pretty much sums up the story. No typos or twisting of the facts for a humorous headline; simply a factual title. Truth is sometimes stranger than fiction.
A worker in New Zealand was recently invited to a meeting with his HR department and, suspecting the worst, took advantage of his statutory right to bring a person for emotional support. That person was a clown. An actual clown. Not just someone who often clowns around.
Unsurprisingly, the worker in question, Josh Jack (real name Joshua Thompson) is a budding stand-up comedian, so has the sense of humour to attempt such a stunt.
HR Magazine understands that the clown blew up balloons and folded them into various animals throughout the meeting. To lighten the mood, the clown apparently mimed crying when the redundancy paperwork was handed over to Josh.
This is possibly the most unusual HR meeting HR Magazine has ever heard of, but if you know of another please let me know!
The meeting taking place.
