In Hong Kong, 87% of employees are suffering from work-induced stress amid COVID-19. This, according to a recent survey by the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong. The Survey also revealed that almost half of all employees show symptoms of anxiety disorder. Corporate environments can often equate to stressful workplaces, and with this in mind, Holistic Wellness Hong Kong (HWHK) created the Day of Wellness (DOW) concept as a way of leveraging both corporate CSR efforts and employee wellness programmes in one combined offering.
Raindy Yu, Founder, HWHK explained the rationale behind the DOW concept, “In response to the high-stress, high-anxiety working environment in Hong Kong, we offered the DOW to provide a good opportunity for companies to combat mental illness, promote stress reduction and help their talent teams attain holistic well- being.” HWHK provides workshops in enhancing mental effectiveness in the age of new digital disruption. These sessions detail the neuroscience behind the benefits of staff taking mindful breaks, and how this can boost productivity and equip staff with skills so they can actualise the Pareto Principle into their own work life.
The tailor-made programmes begin with a dialogue with the HR team to design a wellness programme best-suited to the employee needs of each organisation. Activities include yoga sessions and specially designed card games to help enhance communication among team members. The programme then helps employees through different kinds of activities related to physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Yu explained, “Four key outcomes of the sessions include recharging intellect, refreshing the body, renewing the mind and rejuvenating the soul.”
