A recent analysis by Absolute Digital Media has revealed the most appealing remote work locations in Europe. The company analysed European countries as well as major cities to discover the best destination for remote workers looking for a change of scene. Spanish capital, Madrid, came out on top with an overall score of 76.89, with Czech capital Prague and the Polish city of Warsaw rounding out the top three.
The analysis ranked the affordability of each location including inward bound flights, the average cost of a two-bedroom apartment, cost of living, internet speed, pollution rate, cost of a coffee and the remote work legislation in each location.
For sun-seeking remote workers, Madrid and Portugal are both great choices with an average of 10 – 11 hours of sunshine per day. They are also ideal for those who are seeking a lower cost of living with the average cost of living amounting to under HK$ 800 in Madrid and HK$ 600 in Lisbon whilst a two-bedroom apartment can be as little as HK$ 800.
On the other end of the spectrum, workers looking to experience a little bit of ‘je ne sais quoi’ may want to reconsider Paris as their main option. The French capital was rated lowest amongst the European destinations with a high cost of living, mediocre internet speeds and stifling pollution making it the least desirable remote work option.
The pandemic has given workers the power of flexibility. Many companies now allow their staff to work remotely and with the easing of travel restrictions, now might be the perfect time for some workers to think about working abroad.
