Millennials are the constant talk of the town—but according to data released by Goldman Sachs, it is probably about time that HR updates its strategies because it is not Gen Y that you now need to be worried about—it is Gen Z.
Although still ripe at 16 years old and under, Gen Z now make up 22% of the US population—more than the 21% of Gen X and they will be entering the working world very soon! According to Steve Boese, Co-Host, HR Happy Hour Show, and Co-Chair, HR Technology Conference, there are two things HR need to start thinking about for their New Year’s Resolutions:
- First, technology. This is the first ‘post-internet’ generation who have known nothing else but constant connectivity to the internet and mobile devices. They are used to instant information and can digest it quickly. How HR adapts its technology to the new generations should be something that HR should put on top of its New Year’s resolutions list.
- Second, diversity. This is the most diverse generation in US history, and possibly world history—and Gen Z are likely to know it. To them, they will not have to thing consciously about it, it will just be the new norm.
