Randstad—one of the world’s largest human resource solutions agencies—recently released the findings of its annual Employer Brand Research in Malaysia.
The survey showed that Malaysia-based employees ranked the following EVP (employee value proposition) factors as their most important drivers:
- Attractive salary and benefits (64%)
- Healthy work-life balance (49%)
- Strong management (44%)
Whilst the top two factors come as no surprise, as they consistently rank at the top in surveys globally, the third place driver shows that workers in the region are less interested in the laissez-faire style of management favoured in some other regions.
Further supporting the importance of strong leaders in the region, the study also showed that 29% of staff would consider leaving the company because of poor leadership.
Jaya Dass, Managing Director, Randstad Singapore and Malaysia said, “People want to work in an organisation that is being led by a strong and capable management team, especially one that is able to drive the company forward in the fourth industrial revolution.”
Some other stats coming out of the report include:
- When seeking an ideal employer, Gen-Z workers (42%) and Millennials (34%) want to work with companies that can provide them with upskilling opportunities.
- The top reason employees would choose to resign is 'limited career path' (49%).
The 2019 Employer Brand Research captured the views of 2,504 employees and job seekers between the ages of 18 and 65 who are based in Malaysia.
