Dr Eden Woon, future President of AmCham HK
The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (AmCham HK) has announced the appointment of Dr Eden Woon as President beginning 1 September 2022. Woon will succeed current President, Tara Joseph, after her five years of service. Woon is an experienced business and academic leader who has served in government and NGOs.
Since 2018, Woon served as the President of the Asian Institute of Technology, an international graduate university in Thailand, and also serves as a special advisor to the Shaw Foundation of Hong Kong. Woon was formerly the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as well as Managing Director for Li & Fung Group’s China office, Toys ‘R’ Us China as well as the former Vice President of Starbucks Coffee Company. Woon also served as the CEO of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce.
Woon’s appointment comes at a strategically important time for AmCham as it prepares to head to its new permanent home in the city’s Central district. AmCham Chairman, Joseph Armas commented on the appointment, “I am extremely excited to welcome Dr Woon back to Hong Kong to lead AmCham HK. His combination of leadership, international business and local experience were recognised as a strength that will have a positive impact on the Chamber and on Hong Kong.”
