Hotel ICON announced that it is offering medical insurance coverage to legally recognised same-sex partners of its associates. The policy—which took effect early October—means all spouses who are legally married (in countries that legalise same-sex marriages) to be eligible for the medical benefits.
By offering medical benefits to the married spouses of the same gender, the hotel continues to promote their inclusive and equitable company culture. “At Hotel ICON, we always go the extra mile to ensure that we are going to be fair and consistent for all of our associates”, according to Richard Hatter, the General Manager of Hotel ICON.
Hotel ICON is very committed to its diversity and inclusion programme. For example, the hotel also reaches out into the community by being the hotel sponsor for events such as Pink Dot and the Pride Parade. Hotel ICON is also the venue sponsor of many diversity and inclusion events such as the career expo for disabled students and the LGBT + Index Award.
As part of Hotel ICON’s mission to nurture the next generation of hospitality leaders, the development of interpersonal relationships, active listening and associate engagement at every level and throughout every operation is key. Throughout the year Hotel ICON holds a number of social activities under the theme of “We Love to Care” to bring the teams together; dragon boat racing, singing contests, family days, massage days and many more. These work alongside a range of CSR activities including a Going Green programme, to reinforce the company values and to create a happier and more engaged team who cares about their roles.
