The Hong Kong Government has announced that the online application system for the subsidy scheme for beauty parlours, massage establishments and party rooms is open for applications from 9 am 7 February until 11.59 pm on 20 February. Funds are being made available under the fifth round of the Anti-epidemic fund announced last year.
The scheme aims to alleviate the ongoing financial pressures faced by these businesses—many of whom have seen their revenues halted, in light of their heightened social-distancing measures that have been put in place trying to combat the city’s fight against COVID-19. Up to HK$ 50,000 for beauty parlours and massage establishments is available dependent upon the number of employees, whilst party rooms will receive a HK$ 20,000 lump sum.
Eligible businesses which have seen their operations suspended due to the ongoing fifth wave of the pandemic are able to apply under the scheme. Full details of the eligibility criteria, terms and conditions are available on the application website.
