To better prepare for the rapidly changing pace and activity in the healthcare industry, Cleveland Clinic and Korn Ferry recently collaborated on a programme to educate and train tomorrow’s physician-leaders and healthcare executives. The two American organisations are working together to offer a new approach to healthcare leadership development programmes. The focus will be on training and developing healthcare leaders who will challenge their organisations to think and act differently. The goal is to cultivate a strong, supportive organisational culture that increases performance, engagement and retention.
Greg Button, Korn Ferry President, Global Healthcare Services, said, “This partnership combines healthcare expertise with leadership development experience to develop strategic healthcare leaders for the future. By combining our knowledge and experience, we will offer training and development to prepare healthcare leaders for the evolving demands of the industry.”
This collaborative programme will provide coaching, training and consulting services to physician-leaders and other healthcare leaders in the United States and throughout the world. Seasoned leaders will deliver it from Korn Ferry and Cleveland Clinic. The programme will help participants develop a stronger sense of who they are and what they bring to the organisation, helping to accelerate flexibility, innovation and a new approach to leadership in a world impacted by the pandemic.
The programme aims to help participants:
- Break out of their comfort zones and interrupt default ‘auto-pilot’ leadership responses
- Develop a practice of empathy to connect with others
- Communicate and listen, build trust, mentor and coach others
- Examine professional relationships and grow a circle of influence
- Establish strategies to support change and lead through times of crisis
- Anticipate what lies ahead with an eye toward fostering growth

“Cleveland Clinic has a 100-year history of developing healthcare leaders."
The programme will run for three to four months for each cohort. That schedule will allow for faster adoption and implementation of the learnings. In addition, participants will receive Continuing Medical Education credits for participating in the programme. William Peacock, Chief of Operations, Cleveland Clinic, and executive sponsor of this new leadership development programme said, “Cleveland Clinic has a 100-year history of developing healthcare leaders. We are excited for the opportunity to bring our experience to others here in the US and abroad.”
