EIU report investigates the work of tomorrow
A new collection of essays explores many of the driving forces that will reshape work in the future. Curated by The Economist Intelligence Unit and sponsored by Fujitsu, Working in the Future reveal the breadth of factors that influence the working experience of employees. A common thread is the importance of a sense of purpose at work. If companies can provide that sense of purpose, employees will find their own way to do the best job possible.
The Working in the Future report contains contributions from six noted experts from a range of disciplines. These include Toni Schneider, former CEO of Auttomatic, the company behind publishing platform WordPress, who explains how a distributed workforce allowed the company to take on much larger rivals, and Professor David De Cremer of the Cambridge Judge Business School, who explains the role of human irrationality in the future of work.
Other contributors to the report include Professor Dean Bartlett, co-director of the Centre for Progressive Leadership at London Metropolitan University, who argues that ‘social sustainability’ will reshape the relationship between companies and the communities that surround them, and Bridget Treacy, partner at law firm Hunton & Williams, who explores how data protection rights will shape companies’ ability to analyse their employees.
