In support of growing demand for staff in Macau’s retail and hospitality sectors, Adecco, a human resources solutions company, has announced the opening of a new branch.
Macau’s economy has enjoyed rapid growth since its establishment, driven by rising visitor numbers in the tourism and gaming industry. Despite its population of just over 600,000, Macau welcomed more than 28 million visitors in 2012, according to figures from the Statistics and Census Service.
The new office will provide employers in Macau’s rapidly growing service industries with support in meeting their recruitment and staffing needs. Many retail and hospitality operators in Macau face a continued talent shortage, thanks to fierce competition and a low unemployment rate. Drawing on the company’s consultative approach, its knowledge of the region’s labour markets and its team’s understanding of candidate preferences, Adecco’s new branch will enable retail and hospitality brands to recruit talented individuals at all levels in Macau,
Audrey Low, Country Manager, Adecco Macau, said: “In recent years, Macau has witnessed rapid economic expansion as a result of an influx of visitors to the city. However, as new hotels, casinos and restaurants are developed to meet rising visitor numbers, the luxury brands behind them can struggle to attract the right people to support their operations.
“The sector’s high turnover rate has also driven up competition, with employers now offering staff extra perks, such as employee share awards and bonuses, in an effort to retain the best people and increase the appeal of service industry positions.
“The opening of our new Macau office will allow us to better serve these customers, drawing on our established local roots and allowing retail and hospitality brands to benefit from our 28 years’ experience meeting customer recruitment needs in the region.”
