Environmentally-conscious transportation company FedEx raises the bar for sustainability target
FedEx has increased its sustainability target by an aggressive 50%, vowing to have made a 30% reduction in global aircraft emissions intensity by 2020. This as a result of huge success in working towards the 20% reduction target originally set for between 2008 and 2020, as reported in the latest FedEx Global Citizenship Report. FedEx has also re-affirmed its commitment to sourcing at least 30% of its jet fuel from alternative fuels by the year 2030.
Over the last 12 months FedEx has:
- Continued aircraft fleet replacements to more efficient models
- Continued deployments of all-electric commercial vehicles in cities around the globe
- Introduced FedEx carbon-neutral envelope shipping
- Continued to improve its network-wide recycling efforts
- Continued its disaster relief efforts through offering transportation and logistics expertise to the tsunami and earthquake recovery operations in Japan
- Continued the annual FedEx Cares Week volunteer programme in the Asia Pacific involving tree planting and coastal clean-ups
