Global compliance and HR solutions provider Deel’s State of the Global Hiring Report has found that today’s economic environment is making cross-border hiring more attractive than ever before. The trends driving global hiring growth according to the report are access to a large pool of high-quality talent and remote work trends.
The report analyses data from the past six months and shows that the pace of global, distributed hiring is still accelerating. Given the high demand for talent and a shortage of available candidates, companies are looking outside higher-cost countries to find quality talent. As a result, salaries are rising worldwide, particularly in Italy, Brazil and India.
On a more local level, Hong Kong companies are increasingly looking into global hiring to fill talent gaps. Hong Kong is currently the fourth fastest growing market in APAC and seventh globally when it comes to recruiting talent. The most in-demand roles are Translator, Consultant, Software Developer, Software Engineer and Sales Development Representative. In order to meet their talent demands, 30% of Hong Kong-based businesses are hiring contractors with the tech sector companies notably turning to them more (47%).
Karen Ng, Regional Head of Expansion & Market Lead Hong Kong, Singapore, ASEAN, India, Deel, commented, “Competing in today’s economy and business landscape means that companies of all sizes need to move fast and creatively to capture opportunities. To do so, they also need to secure the best talent wherever they are—whether as full-time employees or contractors. We are seeing Hong Kong companies doing exactly that. They are increasingly open to hiring contractors to fill gaps and also bring on board remote talent.”
