Amazon Australia will move to allow employees at its Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Canberra offices to bring their dogs to work. As part of their independent research, Amazon Australia found that 23% of Australians welcomed a four-legged friend into their family during the pandemic and now seven in ten dog owners want to bring their pet to work.
The findings also reported that one in two owners feel anxious to leave their pets at home whilst they work and almost six in ten think their dog will struggle when they return back to the office.
In the US, Amazon has been dog friendly since day way and the company's website even features a dedicated page devoted to the dogs of Amazon. In addition to hanging with their pet parents, dogs at Amazon’s US campus can enjoy a community dog park, dog-friendly water fountains and as many dog treats as they like.
The Australian initiative forms part of the company’s Dogs at Work programme which currently has 8,000 registered pooches worldwide. To participate, employees must register their canine pal with their name, breed, microchip and vaccination certificates. Once complete, each pooch will be sent a ‘Woof Pack’ that includes a doggy mat, water bowl, key chain and treats.
