According to a survey carried out by business specialist company Oliver Wight, around 60% of businesses in Asia Pacifc have reported that they are able to recruit “good people” despite the challenges facing the current talent market. However, 40% of businesses revealed that they are still having difficulty when it comes to finding suitable talent.
Further to that, the report indicated that perhaps it is time for HR to stop relying wholly on “good people” and instead look at ways to implement new strategies as 37% of businesses remain concerned over (poor) employee job satisfaction. Instead employers should reduce their reliance on people to ensure that planning processes and execution are not wholly dependent on critical employees said the report.
Concerns were most prominent in Australia where business leaders indicate that finding suitable talent is becoming increasingly problematic.
Though “good people’” do play a key role in effectively moving business operations forward, should companies be unable to diversify and continue struggling to find talent, there will remain many a void of positions to fill which will ultimately have a knock-on effect on different areas of the business.
