In the biggest ever World Expo, taking place from now until October in Shanghai, the internship agency 2-Shanghai will take responsibility for the 160 Dutch students who will conduct their internship at the Dutch Pavilion.
The company is one of the first agencies to organise internships in China for international students at vocational, bachelor and master levels. Internships are currently organised in Shanghai, Sheshan, Taicang, Ningbo, Chengdu and Shenzhen. Matthew Parker, Group MD, StepStone Solutions explained, "2-Shanghai has taken up this World Expo mission with the ambition to show to the world that it offers the best choice of internship management services for students in the Netherlands and other countries.”
To help overcome challenges during the feverish peak season when they need to manage hundreds of incoming applications, the company has adopted StepStone's Talent Acquisition Solutions to help automate the process of internship hiring and job offering. With this system in place, the company can now more effectively manage recruitment, on-boarding and talent pooling to help maintain a flexible talent supply chain in the long-term.
In the last three years 2-Shanghai has enabled hundreds of international intern students to work in both international and Chinese companies, providing cultural orientation and consultation services for the student interns. Michael Douglas, one of the founders of 2-Shanghai, stressed the importance of proper training and tracking of the student interns. Douglas emphasised, “Students who have been well trained during internship could be of great benefit to organisations in China and abroad.”
