Moe Vela, Chief Transparency Officer, TransparentBusiness, believes that these numbers will continue to increase as more companies understand and experience the benefits of remote work.
Since the onset of the pandemic we have seen a rapid transition with companies adjusting and thriving in remote work, now a permanent option at major companies like Twitter, Square and Slack. More than two-thirds of respondents in a recent study expect their remote work policies will become permanent and 47% say they are likely to reduce their physical office footprint.
This has the potential to save companies money by reducing the need for office space. There are also clear benefits for employees in removing the often stressful and expensive daily commute.
The jury is still out, however, as to how effectively WFH arrangements can replicate the physical office environment. Many organisations suggest there is something missing, particularly with regard to the physical presence of team leaders and the ease of coordinating projects face-to-face.
