In HR Magazine’s recent LinkedIn poll, we asked our community to share their thoughts on what they believe will be the future of HR. Given that HR has undergone a considerable transformation over the past few years it was only natural to wonder where it is heading in the future.
Of the more than 800 global HR professionals that voted in the poll, 47% believe that HR will become change leaders within their organisation. As one HR expert said, “The fundamental changes in working conditions and the management and development of human capital, especially after the Corona era, caused us all to challenge ourselves once again to adapt ourselves and our teammates.”
Yet, not all agreed with 24% of respondents indicating that they believe HR will become more aligned with talent development and coaching. Jennifer Requenez, HR Specialist, Cornhusker Bank said, “I chose talent developer and coach mostly because I feel we have quite the uphill battle before we are taken seriously at the table. I believe that we can get to the point of being a change leader, but I do not think it is within the near future. I think to push forward, we need to focus on how AI technology can help us automate redundant tasks and data can push us forward to be looked at as a leader of change.”
The remaining votes were split between HR becoming an employee experience designer (15%) or becoming a service provider (13%). The community made clear one thing; HR cannot escape change. As the role of HR continually shifts, HR professionals should find ways to best manage change to meet the expectations of their organisations and those of their employees.
