Growing Smart
Co-Founder
Having left her career of 13 years in the corporate world and financial I.T., Shahara Alexander found her way into permaculture in May 2014. Permaculture - a creative & sustainable form of farming - opened her eyes to living responsibly on the earth, while still ticking the box of being intellectually challenging as a field. She now runs a local project called GrowingSmart which is centred around a small-scale sustainable farm which incorporates education programmes. Her aim is to help reintroduce food sovereignty and security to Hong Kong, and to reintroduce the long-lost human skills of self-sustainability to a disconnected, urban population.
