After an extensive selection process, a short list of about 10 ambassadors has just been announced for positions at the ICC Observation Deck. The successful applicants will undertake an intensive six-week graduate training programme to prepare them for their new roles.
This follows an application process on a grand scale where more than 1,000 fresh university graduates flocked to the the ICC to collect application forms for a select few number of ambassador positions at the ICC Observation Deck. They also attended a recruitment seminar where, Elaine Tsui, General Manager, ICC Observation Deck, provided an overview of the Graduate Trainee Programme and guest speaker Michael Wu, Chairman, Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong also shared ideas on the talent requirements of the local travel industry. He remarked, “In order to raise the professional level, travel industry practitioners are required to possess higher educational qualification and even to be a degree holder, while being equipped with not only product knowledge but also good language and communication skills. The ICC Observation Deck Graduate Trainee Programme with emphasis on staff training should be encouraged.”
The recruitment drive was run to prepare for the grand opening of Hong Kong’s highest indoor observation deck later this year.
To ensure that the ambassadors meet professional service standards, candidates selected for the Graduate Trainee Programme will receive a series of professional classroom training sessions presented by celebrities, industry experts and the Hong Kong Tourism Board, equipping them with essential job-related proficiencies including communications skills, first-class personal grooming and knowledge of marketing strategies and travel industry trends. As part of the training programme, media experts will coach trainees on presentation and communications skills and makeup artists will provide professional styling training. In addition, the trainees will be assigned to work in the customer service department at Sun Hung Kai Properties, the developer of the ICC Observation Deck, to gain hands-on experience. They will also enjoy the opportunity to go on study tours to other observation decks in the region.
