In Asia, there is only one coach for every 900,000 people, according to Frank Bresser from Frank Bresser Consulting. In September the speaker and noted author, from Germany, made a brief stopover in Hong Kong to conduct a one-day workshop on the implementation and improvement of coaching in organisations. He presented an overview of coaching in industries around the globe, and the different approaches that exist between Europe and Asia in the use of coaching. Bresser also presented seven leading-edge management tools to help facilitate more effective use of coaching within companies. Practical case studies from Hong-Kong-based companies were shared—giving participants both a global and local perspective on coaching practices.
While coaching in Hong Kong is a growing industry, the systematic implementation and improvement of coaching in companies is still very much in its infancy. HR is likely to be putting in some serious overtime on this topic in the near future.
