The Give & Gain Day Business Challenge: a chance to be one of the first 100 businesses volunteering time on 24 June 2011
Hong Kong businesses are being invited to take part in Give & Gain Day on Friday 24 June 2011, a worldwide initiative encouraging companies and their employees to offer their services and/or time on a voluntary basis to charities and the local community.
2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the UN International Year of the Volunteer, and local NGO Community Business, which is the driving force behind Hong Kong’s Give & Gain Programme, is calling for at least 100 local businesses and their leaders to pledge their time on 24 June, or during the week of 18-26 June.
Last year 78 Hong Kong businesses (and at least 40 CEO’s and senior executives) took part in this global volunteering initiative with over 2,131 employees volunteering 7,702 hours of their collective time on over 98 volunteer activities serving Hong Kong charitable organisations and NGOs.
Robin Bishop, Chief Operating Officer of Community Business, calls out to Hong Kong business leaders: “By rising to this challenge, Give & Gain Day 2011 will not only benefit your chosen charity or community organisation but will help to establish yourself as an employer of choice; giving you a chance to engage with your employees and providing them with an opportunity to give something back”.
