As a Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) member, the Hult Global Case Challenge has committed itself to working with fellow CGI member Water.org to tackle one of the world’s most pressing social issues—the global water crisis. Water.org was selected from among the 1,800 ‘Commitments to Action’ made by the world’s top organisations dedicated to world change. The organisation has already championed pioneering efforts in the clean water space, including an innovative WaterCredit initiative, which facilitates small loans for access to clean water and sanitation facilities.
This year student teams from around the world will partner with Water.org in an international case competition which aims to crowd-source innovative ideas and solutions from the world’s top students across five international cities: Boston, San Francisco, London, Dubai, and Shanghai. Gary White, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Water.org said, “We expect the event to provide a platform for crowd-sourcing some really innovative ideas and solutions to help solve this truly pressing global challenge.”
Over 100 student teams of five from the world’s top academic institutions including Harvard Business School, Columbia, NYU, Yale, Hult International Business School, London Business School, Dartmouth, Notre Dame, IE, Cranfield, India Institute of Management, and Carnegie Mellon will compete to develop innovative ideas and solutions to the global water crisis. The winners of each regional competition will move on to compete in an all-expense paid global final on 30 April 2011 in New York, co-hosted by the CGI. At the final event teams will present their refined solutions to a world-class panel of executive judges and Water.org will receive a USD$1 million donation from benefactors, to be used to help implement the winning team’s solution.
