Staff members of PageGroup once again showed their commitment to the St Baldrick’s Foundation by going under the razor to help raise funds to go towards research to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
Cheering spectators packed the Hard Rock Café in Lan Kwai Fong to witness fourteen volunteers from the Michael Page, Page Personnel and Page Executive businesses participate in the charity’s annual shave event held on April 15.
This is PageGroup’s fifth consecutive year of participation, demonstrating their long-term commitment to the Foundation, which has resulted in a contribution of close to US$ 100,000 in donations raised by staff, clients, candidates and friends and family of the organisation.
Commenting on the chop, Anthony Thompson, Regional Managing Director, PageGroup, Greater China said, “PageGroup has been involved with the St Baldrick’s Charity Shave event over the past five years and we are proud to be doing our part to give kids living with cancer a better chance for a cure. I’m also particularly pleased that for the first time, my two young sons went under the razor and with this act, stand in solidarity with kids their age fighting cancer who typically lose their hair during treatment.”
The Group’s CSR activity also involves taking part in the annual Great Wall Marathon held in Beijing, China, which sees around 130 staff from the business’s China offices and other locations around the world run along the wall to raise donations for the charity Operation Smile, which funds surgical procedures for children with facial deformities.
Thompson added, “Our involvement in corporate social responsibility activity is a win/win for everyone. We have raised money that has benefited people in need while at the same time, our employees have had the opportunity to be involved in incredibly meaningful causes and they have grown and developed through the process and become better human beings."
