Tang shared a quote from Einstein to kick off her talk-“Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving.” This, she said, served as inspiration for her in the early years of her career. Progress, she felt, meant six-month, one-year, two-year stints at a company. Staying put would mean her skills would not grow. Until she joined EY. She explained that working with the company managed to keep her attention and engagement through internal mobility. Rather than feeling that she had stalled, she was continually learning. Today at EY, she strongly advocates this approach whilst supporting the firm's employment ethos of 'Whenever you join, however long you stay-the EY experience lasts a lifetime'. With over 190,000 employees globally, ensuring that all are aligned to the talent strategy is key, as is challenging the mindsets of those in charge as well as those joining. This is achieved through targeted programmes for those employed in manager, senior manager and partner capacities.
